Hester Lynch Thrale's home town

Sir John Salusbury Piozzi Salusbury

He was born on 9 September 1793. In January 1798 Hester and Gabriel Piozzi adopted the five year old son of Giovanne Battiste (Giambattista) - Gabriel's favourite brother - who had been driven from his home by Napoleon's invasion of Italian Milanese Territory.

Clifton was the home of her friend Penelope Sophia Weston (1752-1827), wife of William Pennington. For a short while after this she took temporary residence in Regents Terrace, Penzance whilst repairs were made to her house in Clifton. On her journey of return to Clifton in March 1821, she fell and hurt her leg in Exeter.

Church of Corpus Christi, Tremeirchion

This is the only Medieval Church in the British Isles dedicated to the Body and Blood of Christ. The present building nestles in a circular churchyard surrounded by ancient Yews, perhaps founded by a follower of Saint Beuno in the 6th century. A Maltese Cross on the Bell Cote is another indication of this place as being a place of pilgrimage.

Wales - July 2001

This is the travelog of Michelle and David during our family holiday to Wales. One day of our holiday was spent visiting Tremeirchion village, home to the mansion - Brynbella - that Hester Thrale built, as well as her final resting place and home to her ancestors, the Salusbury's.
