Tom Thrale

My name is Tom Thrale. My immediate family (Grandfather, father etc.) were from Luton in Bedfordshire England. My dad has 5 brothers and 1 sister. The Thrale name comes from my grandfathers side of the family. I was wondering whether you could send me any information on the family. I could be related to you!

Thanks

Hi Tom, Since you wrote I have made terrific progress with the Thrale family tree. I'm sure that I can work out where you fit in if you could give me a little more information ...

  • Your Mums full maiden name
  • Your (Thrale) grandfathers name and if known his wifes name.
  • The names of any of you father and (Thrale) grandfathers brothers or sisters.

Up until a few weeks ago I had no idea where I fitted in, but sharing the info I had - I didn't even know my great grandfathers name - helped me to crack it. If I can't work out where you fit in straight away, it is still worthwhile letting me know because people like you are sending me clues and info about their Thrale connections all the time. So I am sure that with a bit more information I will work out where you fit in. When I do so, I will of course let you know.

p.s of my 16 direct Thrale male ancestors, 5 of them were called Thomas Thrale - you are in good company.

Do you remember leaving a message on Thrale.com asking about you family history. If you father's name is one of ...

  • John Curtis, or
  • Russel Nicholas Curtis, or
  • Nigel Peter Curtis, or
  • Ashley Graham Curtis, or
  • Timothy Lance (called Lance),

I can give you some info about your family. All I need is your Dad's forenames.

Tom and Lance

I have discovered a fair bit about your family recently and am in touch with a few family members (see elsewhere in this forum for their messages).

Tom's grandfather was Trevor Alfred Thrale who lived in Luton, Bedfordshire. I believe he died around 1995. Trevor Alfred Thrale had two wives. The first was Ilse Anni Karla Jakubussa from Hussum in Germany. They married in 1951 and were divorced before 1959. Together they had six children (your father and Lance etc). She is now dead. Ilse would be Tom's grandmother.

Trevor Alfred Thrale remarried in 1959 to Evelyn Blythe. They had three children Richard Thrale, Nicholas Thrale and Trevor Thrale. Nicholas Thrale has himself had two children called Jazmine Thrale and Alfred Thrale.

I don't yet know the names of Trevor Alfred Thrale's parents or how you all fit into the main Thrale family tree. I am working on this and if I get any more information I will let you know. In the meantime there are some more facts that would be useful for me to know ...

  • when and where Trevor Alfred Thrale was born?
  • when and where he died?
  • ditto for his first wife Ilse Anni Karla Jakubussa?
  • the names of any of the spouses of Trevor Alfred Thrale's children and the names of any children that they all had (Tom is the only one that I know of)?

I'd love to be able to enter these on the family tree, and work out where you all fit in to the Thrale family tree. Whatever you send me, the Thrale family tree on Thrale.com will only include the name and relationship of any living individuals.

Keep in touch

David

Since Tom Thrale's first enquiry, I have ascertained that Trevor Alfred Thrale's parents were Reginald Thomas Thrale and Edith May Fearn.

Fortuitously, Reginald Thomas Thrale is already on the family tree. This means that thanks to the work of Thrale.com (and Tom's uncle Lance), Tom can now trace his family back 17 generations to Robert Thrale born before 1509.

So Tom can now meet his 15 times great grandfather, Robert Thrale (born before 1509).

Job done!
