    Robert Thrale the younger did not long survive his father and died in 1541, leaving a young family of four sons and two daughters. His farm Sandridge Bury, in accordance with his father?s will, went to his elder sons, Thomas and Alban, and he left other lands in Sandridge to his sons as follows (Arch. St. Albans Reg. Ewer fol. 27 (Richard Thrale d 1541) and Reg. Clapton fo. 132 (William Thrale d. 1589)):

    (a) Thomas Thrale?a copyhold house and land called ?Townynges.?
    (b) Alban Thrale?a copyhold house and land called ?Phylype Smythes.?
    (c) John Thrale?copyhold lands and tenements called ?Feyrwnlfes,? later known as Fairfolds.
