    Began his career in tobacco just before the turn of the century. They were raising Havana Seed tobacco then. He had attended business college in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. OLIVER has been a very active business man and not only has, with his son, a large tobacco raising operation, but one of the country's finest herds of Holstein cattle. The Thralls should be counted among the pioneers in growing the Connecticut shade tobacco, which has proven the finest cigar wrapper
    of today. OLIVER brought to the ancestral farm, a heard of the finest available dairy cattle. In 1965 the two large cow barns and great silos were models of perfection in the dairy industry.

    Educated in the public schools of Windsor and took a commercial course at Morse Business College. In 1902, he began to raise tobacco and did throughout his life. He operated in partnership with his brother, Henry W. Thrall, a dairy farm where he raised pure-bred Jersey cattle. In 1938, in conjunction with the Farm and Home Week Program at Connecticut State College, the Board of Trustees awarded him an "honorary recognition" scroll, signed by Governor Gross and President Jorgensen of the College "in recognition of eminent service to agriculture in the State of Connecticut." He was a Director of the Hartford County Fann Bureau and of the Connecticut Jersey Cattle Club, President of the Connecticut Turkey Producers' Association, Vice-President and Director of the Windsor Shade Tobacco Company, President of the Windsor Club.

    Joseph and his father are partners in a large tobacco farm. He attended The Loomis School and graduated from Yale. Joseph is tall, lean and perhaps what we picture as a typical Yankee. He knows the tobacco business and has done well with it, being a large producer of Shade Grown wrapper tobacco. His wife, Marian, takes real interest in both tobacco and cattle and keeps the records. Joseph and Marian have a place in Florida where they spend some time in the winter, but the farm is so beautifully located on the Fannington River, one never needs leave in sunnier. The house overlooks Hoyts Meadow where the first Thrall in America tilled the soil that Joseph is tilling today. Part of this time being at Iwo Jima, and the balance on Guam. After completing his service, he returned to the University of Connecticut, graduating in June, 1947.

    Warren is six feet one inch tall, weighs 195 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. His is Vice President of H.C.Thrall & Sons, Inc., Secretary and Director of Windsor Shade Tobacco Company, President of New England Holstein-Friesian Association, Director of Shade Tobacco Growers Agriculture Association, Director and former President of Conn.
