Jane and Frederick and their three children lived with Frederick's parents at "Carter's Corner House" in Hellingly. A print of this house can be seen in the British Museum, London, dated 1745. It has a fascinating story attached to it by local legend. Jane remained living there with her three children after her in-laws and husband had died. She sold the house sometime between 1871-1874 and went to live at Heene Terrace, Worthing.
