Burton and his brother Forrest, were in the sawmill business together. They built all the Louz-Bell mills in the south. Burton built the sawmill at Bazaluza, La., then the biggest in the world. He built sawmills in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. After the pine was cut out, he turned most of the mills into hard wood mills.

Burton married Gertrude Darrow on 16 Aug 1893. Gertrude was born in 1872; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Bernice relates she can recall when all ten children of Eli Burritt Thrall, her grandfather, gathered vith their families for a reunion in Ohio, Wisconsin. Eli's house was a first story brick and second story shingle house, painted white. She says she will always remember them as a proud family and all seemed prosperous. All were house and land owners.
